Calling all creative Wolves! There’s still time to submit a design for Westwood’s Yearbook Cover Contest! Families, encourage your student to finish their masterpiece and turn it in by November 6, 2026! Each entry should: ✅ Use an 8.5 × 11-inch sheet of white paper in a vertical position. ✅ Include Westwood Elementary. ✅ Feature the theme “Under Construction—great stories take time.” ✅ Include the school year 2026–2027. Let’s put that PACK creativity to work and help build a yearbook to remember!

Westwood’s 4th graders took their curiosity to Crystal Bridges for a day of art, exploration, and inspiration. Best. Day. Ever! Today was one to remember for Isler F., a second grader in Mrs. Bell’s class and a Win-A-Ride contest winner! His whole class got to join in the celebration, making his big day even more special! A big thank you to the Springdale Fire Department and Captain Pinkley for organizing this fun event and teaching students about fire safety. Thank you for giving Isler a memory he’ll treasure for e.v.e.r! #Springdalefamily

Our very first School-Wide Book Club is happening this coming Monday, November 2nd, at 7:20 AM in the school library!

There is still time to join the fun! Students can grab a copy of Zoey and Sassafras: Dragons and Marshmallows and start reading so they can be part of this exciting first book club gathering.

Costumes, smiles, and a stroll through the neighborhood! Third and fourth graders walked to Westwood Health and Rehab for a costume parade, sharing smiles and a little Halloween fun with residents and staff! We’re grateful to have Westwood Health and Rehab as a community partner and love these opportunities to bring generations together. #Springdalefamily

Fifth graders rolled up their sleeves for a campus beautification project, helping make Westwood a more welcoming place for everyone! Thank you, fifth graders, for taking care of your school and showing that leadership comes through service. #Springdalefamily

From little listeners to big-kid readers! Fifth graders visited Mrs. Forrester’s kindergarten class to share stories with some of the youngest Wolves. For several, it was a sweet return to the very classroom where they were kindergarten students themselves! What a special full-circle moment—back in a familiar place, this time with a book to read and younger friends looking up to them. #SpringdaleFamily

Our Pennies for Pumpkins display is growing, and we are LOVING all the creativity! Just look at these amazing pumpkins! Now it’s time for YOU to help choose a favorite! October is National AAC Awareness Month, a time to celebrate the many ways people communicate and recognize individuals who use Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)! During today's faculty PLC, Westwood teachers stepped into the role of learners as they explored and practiced using AAC devices! These powerful communication tools help individuals express their thoughts, needs, and ideas because communication is so much more than spoken words! But the learning didn’t stop there! Teachers also explored teaching with intention and focused instruction through the book Visible Learning, reflecting on how purposeful teaching can make an even greater impact on student success. At Westwood, we’re always learning, growing, and finding new ways to make sure every student has a voice and has the opportunity to shine! #SpringdaleFamily

Pennies for Pumpkins is in full swing! Our first pumpkins have arrived, and they are looking PUMP-KIN-TASTIC! We love seeing all the creativity, and we’re hoping to see LOTS more pumpkins roll in this week! Bring your book character pumpkins to the library and don’t forget your coins to vote for your favorites! Last day: October 29 Winners announced Friday, October 30! Remember, the pumpkins that collect the most money WIN! Let’s fill our library with pumpkins and have some fun supporting our STEAM Club! #SpringdaleFamily

Get ready, Wolf Pack! It’s time to dress up, have fun, and celebrate making healthy choices and showing kindness. Each day brings a fun new dress-up theme and a chance to remind our Wolves that being kind, staying healthy, and making positive choices never go out of style! Orange you glad we stand together? Tomorrow, Wednesday, October 21st, is Unity Day! We are calling on our entire Wolf Pack to WEAR ORANGE as we stand united against bullying and spread kindness. Let’s fill our hallways with orange and show that when Wolves stand together, kindness wins! One Pack. One Voice. United Against Bullying!

Fire Safety Starts with YOU! Our Wolves had a fantastic time learning how to stay safe during our Fire Prevention Assembly! Students learned important fire safety tips and the importance of having a plan in case of an emergency. Calling all future fire safety heroes! Students are welcome to submit their family fire escape plans by Monday, October 26th! It’s a great opportunity to practice fire safety together at home! And here’s the exciting part! The student with the winning fire escape plan will get to ride on a FIRE TRUCK and receive an exclusive Springdale Fire Department coin! How cool is that?! A BIG thank you to the Springdale Fire Department for taking the time to educate our students and helping keep our Wolf Pack safe! #Springdalefamily

After reading The Lemonade War, our 4th graders turned their learning into a real-life experience by hosting their very own lemonade stand! From the pages of a book to becoming young entrepreneurs, these Wolves put their creativity, teamwork, and business skills to work! A HUGE thank you to all the parents who stopped by, enjoyed a refreshing cup of lemonade, and invested in our students’ endeavors! Your support made this learning experience even sweeter!
